Lets talk about Heroes of Newerth
For the past two to three weeks I have been playing the new Defense of the Ancients stand-alone game called Heroes of Newerth or HoN. HoN is kinda a cut and paste of DotA on a new graphics engine with player and statistic tracking that allows for players to play the game more competitively. I think that once this game has some more heroes and maybe once they tweak the balance a little more that there will be no reason to play DotA, as long as this game is free or priced competitively. Continue on after the jump for more information and if you want a beta invite, just reply to this post with you e-mail address and I will be happy to send you one your way.

WoW: WotlK First Impressions
As most of the world probably knows by the lack of people actually showing up to their jobs, kind of like the world cup, World of Warcraft’s 3rd Expansion, Wrath of the Lich King has launched! At first I was never going to get this game because Warhammer Online had just came out and I was hoping for a game that would finally dethrone WoW as the best MMORPG in my book. Sad to say, that didn’t happen. There just isn’t that much to do in Warhammer right now and you can tell by how stale the servers get, and this comes from me a high ranking officer in a huge guild on one of the most popular servers. I was anxious to see if Wrath of the Lich King would live up to the hype or just peeter out as the franchise of WoW comes to an end.

COD5 World at War First Look
About four days ago I got my hands on the Call of Duty 5 beta. At first I wasn’t even going to try it because it wasn’t by Infinity Ward. I feel that Infinity Ward saved the COD franchise with COD4 and that giving the series back to Treyarch was a giant mistake. Alas, a bunch of my friends picked up the beta and they said it was pretty good, so I jumped on and installed it. Basically all they did was take Infinity Ward’s COD4 and re-skin it to look World War 2ish. They did some improvements but it is basically the same game, just with a significantly different gameplay.

CnC: Red Alert 3 Beta First Impressions
Today I started playing the Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 Beta, mainly because Warhammer was down in preparation for the next Beta testing phase (it’s getting closer! yay!). Speaking of Warhammer, I can’t wait until the Closed Beta is over and the NDA is lifted because I have so much stuff to share with you guys! Now back to Red Alert 3! The newest chapter of the Red Alert series is such a good game so far, as I have only played about 25 games, but it has been great so far.

Review: Gold Slam Tennis
Gold Slam Beta 2 Started last night and I can say that I was really excited to start playing again. The game is really fun and is one of the few free games that I have throughly enjoyed my time spent. Gold Slam is made by Aeria Games, the people who brought you Shaiya and a few other popular free games. Gold Slam Beta 2 is going on until August 4 so go get the game and lets play some tennis!

Death Cab for Cutie
I am from the south so naturally I like many different types of music. From T.I. to Dierks Bentley, I listen to it all. Recently I started hearing this song on the radio called “I Will Possess Your Heart” by Death Cab for Cutie, an indie-rock group from the Oregon/Washington area. I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful vocals and immaculate beat that accompanied the song. Naturally, I went out to my local music store and scooped up the latest album from Death Cab for Cutie called Narrow Stairs.

First Impressions: Age of Conan
The Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures Open Beta launched on Friday, May 2, 2008. The launch was pushed back about 6 or 7 hours due to some last minute patching issues. But when 17:00 EST rolled around, my friends and I all logged into the game and began our adventures in the perilous lands of Hyboria.
