How Google Docs Touched Me

Ok, Well Google Docs didn’t really touch me, that would be kind of weird, but it did change the way I work online. Google Docs has increased my productivity so much and increase my ability to collaborativly create documents and other items.

Here are some of the reasons that I love Google Docs!

  1. You don’t have to install anything! Just fire up your web browser and get working!
  2. Your documents are safe. Should you have to format your computer or something else happen, such as having your laptop stolen, you won’t have to worry about losing your English paper due in a week.
  3. It is easy to work together.Google Docs makes collaborative authoring a breeze.
  4. It cuts out on the mundane tasks. You don’t have to save the document and then e-mail it to yourself so that you can work on it somewhere else, you just access your Google account and there it is!
  5. There are many more reasons, but I urge you to try out Google Documents for yourself the next time you start a project.

Even though Google Docs is so awesome, you will probably still want access to a full featured word processor such as MS Word or Open Office Writer.

Reasons to still have Word

  1. Google Doc’s features are limited as of now. There are certain key features that I really need before I can turn a paper in, like editing the headers and footers so I can make my paper MLA compliant.
  2. If you like some of the more elaborate features of Word that is another reason because you won’t find any word art in Google Docs, but you are able to use CSS to manipulate the output of your document any way that you want.

Do you use Google Docs? Do you like it? Tell me about it in the comments!
